Neighborhood Update, May/June 2010

As a result of the street parking issues that Columbia Square and Cambridge Court has been experiencing the past several years as well as in other areas of the city, the Irvine City Council approved Ordinance No. 09-07 on September 8, 2009 that establishes a policy that allows the Director of Public Works to create Preferential Parking Districts.

A Permit-Only street parking program is now in effect on the Oxford and Columbia streets.  The fee for a permit is $35.00 for one resident permit and $10.00 for one guest permit, and are valid for 2 years.  For more information or to purchase parking permits online, please visit http://www.irvinepd.org
and click on "PARKING" to navigate to the parking permit website.

With this collaborative effort between Cambridge Court, Columbia Square, Broadmoor, and CampusView, non-resident traffic within our community as significantly decreased.  As a result, our streets are now safer, quieter, and cleaner.

If you are interested in giving the Boardmembers your input, you are welcome to attend the Board meetings, which are held on the 4th Thursday of the month.  Meeting agendas are publically posted in the courtyard area near the basketball court.

Message From the Board of Directors:

Hello Columbia Square Neighbors!
This website is a valuable venue to disperse up-to-date information among the homeowners. As with most volunteer positions, the Columbia Square Maintenance Association consists of five concerned individuals willing to take the responsibility of looking out for the best interests of the neighborhood as a whole. We fully understand that we will not make 100% of the homeowners happy with each decision we make. The HOA is evolving. With each new Board, we face neighborhood issues with new perspectives and opinions. This is a good thing. Unfortunately, we all join the board because we believe there is something needing to be fixed. We join, we investigate, we learn, and we then add value to the process. Our suspicions are usually quelled once we got involved and understand the issues fully.

If you are concerned about your neighborhood, please get involved. We welcome you to attend a Board meeting to give us your input. We meet at the conference room at Villageway Management generally on the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM.  Please check your billing statement or call Villageway to confirm the meeting date in case it is on a holiday.
